With the (conceptual) app ArenA Circle, you can find new friends that go to the same concert as you and find fun activities to do in the area of Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena, so people are motivated to arrive at earlier times. This would alleviate the crowding issue in that area, changing people’s behaviour in positive ways.

For this project, we were given the opportunity to create a green and community-driven solution for the crowding issue at Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena. There are multiple event halls and stadiums around that area, creating immense crowds and nuisances for the surrounding residence. To combat that issue, we created ArenA Circle. After conceptualisation and testing various possible solutions, we created a high fidelity prototype of this application.

Creating a dynamic design system

In order to make the design uniform, I created a dynamic design system using the Atomic Design Methodology. With bright colours and shapes, the design echoed the look & feel of a fun night out that our target audience will have using this app.

Supporting the neighbourhood

Crowding is a huge issue for the people that live in this area, while other places are hardly ever visited. With this concept, we wanted to aid and support local businesses that visitors would normally not go to. Thus, our solution provides a win-win situation for everyone, where visitors can enjoy new activities with their (new) friends and the neighbourhood can get a boost in their business.

The end result is an app that motivates event goers to meet new people and do fun activities with them before and/or after that event. This way, visitors will go to the Bijlmer at different times and spread themselves around the area, alleviating some of the crowding.
